The US National Science Foundation and Chinese Academy of Science are cosponsoring the First US-China Infectious Disease Informatics & Biosurveillance Forum in Beijing, China; US experts from the CDC PHIN Program, University researchers from Johns Hopkins, University of Southern California, Harvard-MIT, Pittsburgh, Penn State and Albany and Dr. Xiaohui Zhang from STC have been invited as a part of the US contingent. About 20 Chinese experts will attend the meeting the focus on collaboration and information sharing. Topics will include disease surveillance for the Olympics. In an upcoming newsletter we will report back on how the US and China compare in their efforts to implement new surveillance systems.
